i do remember being surprised how light a stock fender was 1st time i held one. can't imagine getting much lighter without some costly exotic material saving a few ounces.
on a similar topic: anybody think of attempting a full lift off or flip front end in 'glass' ? what might be any obstacles on a unibody or festiva in particular?

F3BZ, your comment of the full fiberglass 1-piece is what I'm talking about. A lift off or hinged, tilt forward one piece she'll that's the shape of both fenders and hood. Unclamp and lift off the whole front of the car.
Anyone here know how to fiberglass? Anyone with two fenders and a hood not on a running car who could mold the shapes and do this?

The fiberglass hood was probably modeled on the steel Festiva GTX hood.
That hood belongs to 25horseplay. He hasn't been on the forum since 09-28-2015.
This is what it looks like fron underneath.
No additional clearance.
That is why I am content with my stock hood.
Now that it's a bit cooler, I intend to finish installing my underhood insulation.
Here are some GTX pics.Last edited by bravekozak; 09-16-2016, 08:38 PM.
