Mine still has the steel in it, so this is as close as is possible while retaining that. It needs, IMO, to be taller.

Like this one?
It's an ATH bumper that was made in Germany for the Kia Pride. Festiva Motor Sports (no longer in business unfortunately) had a version of it available for a while and they do pop up on a rare occasion. I modified the steel beam so that I could mount this one
I won't be running with any foam inserts although I do have an idea for something.Ian

From the factory, Mazda 121 bumpers are a lot thinner.

mazda 121s seem to have come with both style bumpers. i've seen both types on cars for sale in AU and UK so maybe it depends on the year or area of the country. the mazda parts books designate the narrow bumpers as "hard" and the ones with crash bar and foam as "soft"
the only festivas that had a hard (narrow) bumper were on lower trim mazda built JDM cars.. also, some of the earliest kia prides also had the narrow style.
the major difference between both other than size are weight and attachment. the narrow bumpers eliminate the crash bar and foam. the narrow rear bumper is attached directly to the rear apron and fender. the front bumper is actually composed of 2 pieces. the upper plastic cover and lower metal apron are joined and attached to the radiator support via 2 brackets and to the fenders. not much crash protection but probably about 80# of weight savings combined front and rear and about 4" less overall car length.
4GREEN still had the front metal apron and brackets available a few years ago which even though not mazda parts were identical to them. also, except for a few grommets, most of the special attachment hardware was still available from mazda and kia.
here are a few pics showing differences between 5mph and narrow death trap versions.
front (shows mounting brackets)
rear
i think ALL the rear bumpers came with cutout for foglamp. on left for LHD countries. on right for RHD ones. no notch for exhaust since these are also a little less taller than 5mph covers and exhaust pipe exits just below cover.
notice 4 holes along top. this is for bolts that go into grommets in body. the narrow bumps have 2 recessed grooves vs 1 on 5mph bumps. if you choose to put the red tape stripes on, they go in the lower groove to be factory correct.
front cover with 4G apron and brackets
some parts diagrams showing attachment. these show both types. if i can get time i'll try to make a list of hardware #s that can be gotten from mazda and kia. most is nuts & bolts & screws but some , like T-bolts would be hard to find at autozone.
