Pained bumper covers VS. greyish non painted bumper covers

are painted bumper covers an actual different part number than the non painted ones. i have a 90 that doesnt have the painted bumper cover and i am looking to either get mine painted if thats the case or pick up a set of painted ones. but i feel as if youll see the slight texture that my non painted ones have and they wont look like a normal painted bumper cover.

I cannot speak to the part numbers but with your non painted one the texture will smooth out when you paint it. The primer/sealer you use should take up the texture. However it is hard to get a good quality paint job on a bare plastic bumper that has been exposed to sunlight for a long time. as well the bugs, grease, wd-40 and anything else is hard to clean off and they generally have rock chips and small dings and scratches.
Trying to repaint a very old damaged bumper or paint an old bare one is often more work and money than buying a new one and painting it if your trying to get them to be the same quality

You could sand it lightly with some 600 grit probably. I would wash it with Dawn
like 2 or 3 times just to make sure it gets everything off afterwards. Let it dry
completely, then use a plastic primer and make sure it adheres well. If that works
give it a light sanding with 800 grit wetsand, let dry and try painting it. I dont see
why that couldn't work. I did that with the side skirts on my 2.5RS back in the day
and they held up fine.
