  • Light stalk replacement compatibly

Recently the light switch stopped working when I would turn the know to turn on the headlights. But when i would pull it in it would turn on the headlights on high beam. This leads me to believe that the light stalk/switch has gone bad somehow. What are some compatible replacements? I found in one thread that the Combo Switch DS783 ESCORT TRACER 91 92 93 TURN WIPER is a compatible replacement. I just wanted to verify that this part would work. I found this on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Standard-DS7...-/380164215506 and wanted to make sure it works, or if someone has one laying around I'd love to purchase it to keep things in the Festiva community. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

What year is your Festiva? I have a couple of good Festiva combo switches and I will let you have one of those for $50 shipped.
Do you need white or orange lettering?
Or you might can just replace the light switch part on your for a lot less.

It's a 1991. I'd take the orange lettering but it doesn't really matter. I'm writing this from my phone so the username is different btw

OK... I will get out tomorrow. I believe the orange one was from my 89 and the white was from a 92.
I will take pictures of them tomorrow so you can see them to choose the one that is compatible to your 91. Some had different wire harness connections.
Is there an exposed wire going into the cover under your light/signal/dimmer switch?

I'll probably go with the white one from the 92 then. I'll have to investigate further tomorrow about any exposed wires

OK I got them down and they are both white and both have the wire that comes out of the bottom of the left stalk.
The writing and logos are faded off on the left stalk on one of them... so if you want it, I'll send you the one that is not faded.
PM me your name and mailing address and I will respond with my paypal address.

Look at the bottom of your left stalk.. do you see doe you see a wire coming out of a hole at the base of it?

Or if you don't want mine... you can get a new one with variable wiper controls from Fourgreen shipped for $82.25

The one from Germany is identical to the one that I received from Fourgreen and might be less if they would ship to the US.. but it says in the listing that they don't. Have you gotten them to ship to you?

Thanks for catching that Jimmy... I put it on my 89. I just went out and looked and it doesn't have the separate wire coming out of the bottom of the stalk. Although the part number shown in the Germany ebay ad is the same as the first part number in the Fourgreen listing?

Everything did plug in and work perfectly on the 89.

Thanks, Jesse. Of course anyone who wants the variable speed wiper can swap the module and stalk to a white face light switch unit. Only a problem for those looking to maintain a "white" look. I am glad to finally find out the compatibility. The pic on the ebay ad didn't look like it had all the necessary wires for the late model units to work.

any E8BZ combo switch will plug into 88/89 harness. any F0BZ is for 90-93. ther INT wiper is not dependant on the motor, it is activated by the stalk electronics so if you replace a non-INT stalk with an INT one, you will magically have INT wipers
yes the german seller will ship here. just have to ask for a shipping quote.
