  • need info on aftermarket steering wheels.

    i found the steering wheel i want and ad states i need 6 bolt adapter kit but wheel is splined. what's up with that? will marine type splined wheels fit festiva? any help appreciated.

    I run Grants on mine. Use ford probe hub to mount the steering wheel.

      The adapter will have splines in it that will slide over the steering shaft. A large nut will hold that in place. The adpater will then have a bolt pattern on the top to allow your wheel to bolt to it.

        This is how a steering wheel and hub adapter work:



        Note that the quick release is totally optional.

        Different cars have different spline counts and diameters. It's often different per brand. A Chevy wheel will not bolt into a Ford. A boat steering wheel spline is unlikely to match a Mazda spline count.

        You will need to go on Ebay (or wherever) and find a Mazda Miata or Mazda RX7 steering wheel Hub (preferably from a reputable brand, like Momo/NRG/Sparco). Don't cheap out, this is a safety item.
