  • Aspire rear bumper cover on front of Festiva

Finally got around to making the upper fill in pieces for the front bumper, plus done a couple of other things like making a hatch cover for the battery and slightly relocating the emergency shut off switch to be more accessible.

The attached pictures make more sense than me writing volumes on how it was done....

The fill in pieces (3/32" thick) and framing (1/8" thick) are all 5052 aluminum. A combination of 3/16" SS rivets and flanged head self-taping screws (salvaged from junked Festiva) hold the fill in pieces in place.

The lower fill in panel on the bottom of the bumper are held in place with #14 self-taping screws to the car body and 1/4-20 pan head bolts fill in piece to bumper cover.

Looks pretty good and hopefully will be an aero improvement. The cover hides the electric fuel pump, battery, wiring and the mounted for the emergency shut off switch.

Not real hard to do, just a lot of fiddling and fabrication to get it to all work.

Pictures are vaguely in order and the tach installation goes along with the Kirkey race seat installation.

      Finished Front Bumper

OK, attached are pictures of the finished project, all the fill in pieces in place and side views giving an idea how much better the aerodynamics look.

I think it was worth the effort.

All the fill in panels are removable for access to the fuel pump, battery and wiring.

On to the new dashboard project!
