  • Roll bar ready for the Welder

With just a little trickery and the slip joint main hoop pads, the entire roll bar (minus rear pads) can be removed from the interior of the car with only having to remove the drivers seat. Even the steering wheel gets to remain in place!

I figured it will be much easier (and faster...and cheaper) for the welder to get to all the joints that need welding, especially the big slip joint tube onto the mounting pad. There was no room there to be able to do a full 360 weld with it in the car.

It will also be easier for me to prime and paint the entire assembly with it out of the car and I can also prime and paint the drivers seat.

Once it is back in the car I'll weld the back braces to their pads and weld the main hoop into the slip joint, then do some touch up painting.

I'll weigh everything before re-installing it and report.
