sorry Dj but 2 seperate pages in a 1988 owners guide show recommended shift points for the 4spd. AND 5spd. transaxles and also refill capacities for same. maybe technically the 5 wasn't an option but maybe standard on the LX. i know there is a table on the site listing stuff like this. either way i got a big headlight to headlight grille fillin toothy grin right now.
glad you took my light humored jab at your 'cartoon' festiva rant with a smilie. ya'll calmed down now? ya i'm still grinnin but it's because this is my 25th post and i'm only half-a-newbie now.
yeah, mines a 4 speed. what was on the LX vs the L in 88?
89 L, hopefully returning from the dead soon with a little more power... http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...77-my-89-build

from what i can decipher from an 88 owners manual, standard LX features include the tach instrument cluster/underseat storage bin/C-pillar trim piece/split rear folding seat/power mirrors/cargo cover/cargo light. when i parted an 88 LX it had also the cloth upholstery-door panels and map pockets but no floor console on the manual. other items that may have only been options available with the LX package are interval wipers/AC/rear def./rear window wiper.

Summit has them for $26.95 + 9.95 shipping/handeling. Wish I had picked one up while I was there in October and saved the shipping cost.
Mine is a 3/8"-16, the Festiva stick is 10mm-1.25.
I used a 3/8"-16 die and cut over the threads on the stick, worked ok since 10mm is just a little larger than 3/8" and there's not much of a load on the threads.
I wouldn't do that on any bolt that would have a load on it because the new threads can't be that strong.
I practiced on a bolt from the parts store before I did it to the stick in the Festiva.
