installation of pass. mirror

Hello, I recently acquired a pass side mirror from musclecar1. I went to install it today after acquiring a couple of new screws. went on beautifully. Still haven't hooked up the electrics yet. but the interior trim panel is not fitting. there are a couple of long screw extensions, and other plastic pieces that would have fit where the screws now reside. should I just trim them off? or is ther a pass. mirror specific interior piece that I should have? I will try with just trimming off the plastic first before looking for a different trim piece.

I had the same problem with my pass mirror ,the interior piece just does not line up with any existing hole in the mirror thru the door .
I did trim it and used black RTV on a large screw to help secure it .

Other thing you could do ,is drill a hole in the door where it would go into the actual hole in the mirror , then screw it in that way

Do you mean the trim pieces needed if there is no mirror? If so, I've got 2 sets of 'em. Give me an address and I'll mail a set to you.

Yes the interior panel is different than the blank the manual one and the interior panels are different between the two different electric models as well. Yes the can be made to work, but that's the problem.

The mirror has a different interior trim piece, the holes are different, but in a pinch just make a hole to line up with it.
