Does anyone know if running the exhaust pipe out in front of the front tires is illegal for street use, provided I can fit a muffler in there?

Dunno about legality, but sounds kinda dangerous fumes-in-the-car wise.

I'm sure you physically couldn't do it and be legal. Muffler, cat and piping all before the front wheels on a tiny fwd car?.. Nope..

As most States are very lenient .
But In most of the vehicle code books , any time it is altered from the stock location ..size , ex. like a truck that had single exhaust , now has duals that run out the back ..

                It become illegal .

I know everybody does it , did it , I have done it .
You run across someone that knows the book well , and they will pick it out .
Been there and done it

I doubt you could get away with running it in front of your front tires...for what purpose? just run it downhalf way and dump it right in front of the rear tire on the passenger side.

I've seen it on some drag cars, and that's why I wondered. More of a curiosity question than anything else.

I probably will run it out before the rear tires, if I don't run it out under the license plate.
