  • body work (dent pulling) and a few other questions

    ok first off,
i have this dent in the side of my car

its on the rear qtr panel if ya cant tell but i hope ya can lol

anyway im tryin to find away to pull it out, i cant get to it by pulling the trim on the inside off, already tried lol, dad was saying to take my torch and heat the area up with it, then take a chunk of dry ice and touch it to the heated area, but i dunno if it will work or not,

i was thinkin weld a bolt to the metal, get a piece of steel and brace it on 2 other spots on the body, drill a hole in the steel, then thread a nut onto the bolt, but again dunno how well that would work, i may have to punch a hole into it and use somthing to pull it out,

    any other ideas???

also dad has a 80's model camero door with power locks, i was thinkin of attempting to rig a hatch popper with the acutator, you think it will work?

also i am going to make a hatch cargo cover for the aspire, first i need to trim the plywood floor bout an inch as my rear seat wont latch, but i have some cardboard im going to trim the layout and i have some 1/4" plywood in the shed i am going to use as well as the rest of the fabric i used on my hatch floor, but what i need to know, is how to make it pivot, and also what do i use and where do i hook it up make it lift up when i open the hatch,

    Thanks in advance all

don't try heating it up and cooling it with dry ice it will only warp more...Remember you working with 22 gauge metal. My advice would be to take off the interior panel to see if you can get to the effected area. If not or it is under a crush beam of somesort i would use the drill a hole tread in the screw on a small bent puller and be carefully with it. Hammer and dolly the metal smooth as possible, tack weld the holes, and fill with plastic filler (bondo).

welding a bolt to it and just pullingo n it will work. maybe a little heat but let it cool down naturally. or find a unisoptter and a pull hammer. thats how we did it in school.

and i just noticed its on a body line so what u might need to do is if its still low body filler it and extend it above the body line but sand flat above and below the body line until it matches. if u go to far put a pc of tape above it and one below and put some filler on and sand it til its good and straight
