  • Dash tachometer and interior

Hey guys, what would it cost for me to slap a tachometer on my dash, and if i wanted to do something different with the interior (get rid of the ug vinyl/plastic) and just change it up a bit, what would be some cheap options (i'm pretty sure i can't afford a fiberglass interior) I'm looking for any suggestions whether their homemade, bought inexpensively or even the expensive interiors. I just want OPTIONS.
    Thanks guys i'd appreciate it.

well, there's always the stock tach clusters that can be swapped in if you can find one... and just goto an auto parts store if you want to find a dash mount tach. As for interior, the only thing you could probably do that wouldn't cost a ton would be cover over the existing plastic with some kind of fabric, and of course you can always buy seat covers...

Might as well just buy a new one with the shipping costs.. But yeah i already got seat covers, not too shabby lookin and got a couple seat belt shoulder braces. As for the interior, i guess its waiting for when i can afford it haha, just make it look real good one the outside.

Ugh i was kind of thinking one that u put ONTO the dash as in above the spedo and engine light etc. , as in not have to deal with taking apart the HUD. Do they make anything like that?

you can buy those external mount ones at most any auto parts retailer... the stock festy clusters brian and I were talking about don't require taking apart stuff though, they are complete replacement clusters. Just take off the little black bezel around the instrument cluster, pull out the old cluster, plug in the new one and you're ready to go!

Ya but thats filthy expensive, they want a right dirty amount of money for 1 of those.. 60 bucks american and 10 for the shipping, thats like a hundred canadian for a cluster. the last thing i can afford right now is a hundred buck cluster when i already gotta replace a clutch, paid 500 for a tranny, and still gotta fix the compression problem in the block.

maybe when i fix the compression problem and replace the clutch n tranny it won't make such weird noises at higher rpms, i never know when the thing just wants to be shifted or whether its making those noises because its high rpms.

well, the cheapest on top of dash tach i can by here cost $45 american, so $60 might not be too bad for something that actually belongs in the festy and looks good there too, plus there's no wiring or anything to do with a stock cluster... yes, it is a lot of money, but if you're wanting a tach, you're going to be paying a good bit no matter what you do, unless you pull a tach from another car at the jy and wire it to the festiva harness (which is possible by the way, though not very easy) and even then you will have to figure out some way to mount on your dash something that originally belonged INSIDE the dash of some other car... just some thoughts...

i dont mean like a cluster, something that would fit on like a nitrous guage, or something like a PSI guage. And i'd rather pay 50 some canadian for something that takes a little bit of work, than pay 100. I'll play it by ear for now.
