If I am right it looks like a section of the clear was amber at one point, you can see what I am talking about if you look at where the top section of the clear meets the hatch.

It does look that way. This bodes well for the frosty clear attempts. Means that with some chemical of some kind you could get the whole thing in white?

I'm tempted to get some tailights and see if I can strip the color off of them. I seem to remember someone boiling a set (dj I think?)

the tails on my newest festiva (93 with ribbed) has the yellow in the turns worn out. i dont think ive ever seen a pair of smoothies that have turned white, only the ribbed ones...

i know mine are from sun fade... but is uv light can do it... there has to be an artificial way!

I know my gf was most keen on getting a set of altezza for hers. She even inquired about damnkid's (i think) when she found out they don't make altezza's for the festy.

I remember reading about a molding shop specializing in "one of's" frosties. I found the link while looking at some pimped out older caddy.

What emits UV rays? Maybe if I stick my tailights in a cafeteria warm tray for a while? I need to take them off anyways, gotta get me some cheapo mousepads/gaskets. I might try it on the side markers too.

Those are heat lamps they emit infrared!

Need special fluorescent or mercury vapor bulbs without UV shield!
Or carbon or xenon arc to emit enough UV to "burn out"pigment in plastic.

Pole120 sent me a set of corner lights and I had them in Xenon arc for 2 months and they did not fade anymore. So inclined to believe faded corners are not a result of UV exposure, but of poor or incorrect pigments.

it looks almost like they just cut a section out of the amber and stuck some other plastic over the hole. but the turn signal doesnt look that way. maybe just a replacement turn signal only?

well, the ones on the silver car are getting replaced sometime with smooths no matter what, so I'll holler at you when I do that
