  • Hood strut pictures, finally.

    I finally have photos of my hood strut for y'all. They're extra large so you can see the details of what I threw together.

    Basically, I found a strut of about the right length, and a hinge from another that was the right size, and stuck them together. The hinge end is on the fender lip, and is held down by 2 bolts. The other end is a ball and socket. I drilled and tapped a hole for the ballstud in my hood hinge.

      I think older 323s. Though the hinge might be from a Mercury tracer.

              Well, it's just the one strut, so I thought it'd be slow...but...I have to be careful when opening the hood now. It pops up pretty good if you let it go after raising it the first 10" or so. Good thing I didn't install 2 of them, or when I opened the hood it'd fold back onto the roof.

              I should probably try to get a wide shot of the setup as well.

                That Probably wouldn't work to well on a FMS hood being that its fiberglass. It might bow the hood when its closed.
