you'd need all of the cruise stuff from the 626 to make cruise work, but the wiper stalk will work fine, its a simple bolt-in mod, just make sure you have the black boxish thing that the stalk attatches to, thats what you bolt on. Here's some pics of mine its from a 626:

In the top pic you can see the black box thingy that the wipers goes into. All you need is that box and the wiper to get the wipers to work.
    No festiva for me ATM...

Is the 'black box' the electrical control box for the cruise too? or is there another box under the dash, like most ford cruise setups ive seen.

So the servo unit and all will work with the festiva?

theoretically any cruise unit can be made to work with any car, provided you can get all the control pieces and stuff and hook it all together. but thats kinda like saying that if you could find a V12 jaguar, "theoretically" you could put the motor in the festiva... often times stuff like that is more trouble than its worth... of course, there's also always some upgrades that are easier to do than others, like putting in another B series motor into a festiva... I don't know where installing the cruise from a 626 would be along that spectrum, but you get the idea. To answer the question though, no, the black box only houses the switching for the wipers, there is a 3 wire plug that comes off the stalk as well, and thats the wiring for the cruise. I'm sure there is a box under the dash and of course a servo or some vacuum actuated device under the hood as well.

Oh and nautical, grab the speedo from the protege, it should go to 140MPH (or the KPH equivalent) is a direct fit into the festy cluster (just needs a custom face printed up) and it should at least plug up to the aspire speedo cable, though I don't really know how well it would fit in the aspire cluster since I've never taken one of those apart.

ok cool. ill give it a shot. the yard only wants $17 for the complete setup anyways.

I thought the cruise systems would be specific to the different motors, because of different rpms at different speeds or somethin. i dunno

The black thingy on right side is electric module that control your front wiper timing. If you found like variable ring knob on wiper arm it will have two little green connect to black box electric module and not part of cruise control to servo. here pic:

^^ cruise control arm with yellow set button.

^^ non cruise control arm with black box electric module.

If your junkyard have some good aftermarket cruise kit on cars probably much easy for you to installed it. Like that pic... But I am thinking maybe I will able to sell to you if you are interested stefan.

^^^ I don't see why not... most of the mazdas are the same. I even found a steering wheel on a newer 626 that fit, but I didn't buy it cause it had an airbag and the jy wanted $55 for a wheel with airbag, $10 for a wheel without, so yeah...
