Yes, wet sand between coats. It's a good idea one way or the other.

How many coats will be determined by how good it looks. You want to make sure you have nice even full coverage. Post some pics when done.

What type of paint are you using? Looks like you are painting the outside of the tail light. Any idea as to how long this will last?

ok here is what i have learned and what i was doing, learn from my mistakes! ok i was wet sanding in between coats after i wet sanded i was using paper towel to rinse the residue off mistake #1 DONT USE ANYTHING THAT WILL LEAVE FIBERS i am impatient i let each coat dry for about 15 minutes thin coats it was dry to the touch but i think you should let them dry a little longer espically when wet sanding. #2 where ever you spray make sure there is no dust or debris. i wet sanded them and crossing my fingers with this final coat they will come out. i had a piece of hair and a water drop that kind of messed one up so i had to wet sand the piece of hair and the water drop out.

They loook great so far! Maybe when you are done if you write a procedure we will sticky it. I'm am sure this same procedure would work on the niteshades that smokes the taillights too!

Those are looking good. You just have to be patient when you do this kind of thing. I did a set about 4 years ago on my old car. I used 3 coats on the areas that were already red, and about 6 on the areas that were orange and I wanted to match the red. I followed with 3 coats of clear.

I sold the car last year, but I still see it around, and the tail lights still look good.

                              Patience is the key, Grasshopper.
