  • Center shifter console

    Is there any difference between the 88-90LX center console upgrade and the auto console? Is the hole for the shifter the same size? Could you use the plastic console from an auto and drop in the boot from a manual LX? (the boots are different)

    what i'm talking about;

    thank you F3BZ for the pictures, i hope you dont mind.

          ya i believe the consoles are the same auto or man but u need the boot on the right to make it look right. that boot is held against the underside of the console with a square plastic retaining ring. the boot on the left is for the cheapo L model without console. you might be able to make it work if u can attach it somehow to the underside of the console. don't know how good the fit would be though. then you can top off your project with either of these.

                The manual boot appears to be the same one used in the 323. I'll be supergluing mine in place. (Actually it's some kind of industrial plastic adhesive a friend of mine gets for me.)

                    I will have to take a pic of my shifter knob and see if it is a real festy one. It came out of the 88 that I pulled the console and under seat tray out of.

                              shifter knob

                              I hate the feel of fake plastic shifter knobs.
                              And I definitely don't want to look at a shift pattern.

                              I need a real man size knob!
                              The Hurst Nascar 50th Anniversary knob is my first choice.

                              I can't afford a leather Momo knob.

                              I also hate fake plastic bellows shifter boots. Cheesy and ugly.
                              It must be leather or at least leatherette.

                              My choice for the console is one from a Nissan Pathfinder transfer case shifter.

                              The shelf divider must be removed from the console in order to put in the Kleenex box.
                              Don't tell me you never need one, use a handkerchief, or just wipe it on your sleeve!
