wheels and bodyside mouldings

if you have seen the pics of the steel wheels on the 88' festy with 17k that i am buying, you notice they need some cleaning up. what would you use to clean and paint them? also wanted opinions on whether to keep it all original and just clean them up, or would you swap wheels, and if so what would be your choice.

has anyone ever thought of adding a higher bodyside moulding, ssay just below the crease. id always thought that would help with door and rear fender dings. as the other moulding is so low. whats your opinion on that?

Buy a new set of wheels from FMS , for nice weather .
Have the old wheels blasted , then have them powder coated , then you can put them on in the late fall , maybe add some new trim rings and new center caps

Look for the stock alloys if you want to stay with 12". If you want 13", look for old 13" Hyundai alloys or Mercury Tracer (pre-'90) 13" alloys. Those should fit stock Festiva bolt pattern.

There's a set of Tracer alloys in my local Pick N Pull. They have tires on them and need cleaned up. I'd buy them but I have a set of Festiva alloys on Twinstiva and she'll be getting the Aspire setup later on in summer. Plus they charge $11 for each stupid tire, and I'm always paying for tires I don't need! Still have that set of 155/80-13s from a year ago that came on my Aspire alloys.

what does that cost to have them blasted and powder coated? i did think of using the alloys off as well.

what do you guys think of adding a body side moulding higher up on these cars? you know where all the stratches and dents seems to occur. :?

yeah i dont know how it would look either, just wondered about it as even this one has a small ding in that area. maybe someone could photoshop a moulding along there. its can of hard for me to imagine how it would look really. i dont have photoshop myself.

I am not sure if a second set of moulding would look right? If it was my car I wouldn't do it, I am picky about were i park any of my carsto try to avoid door dings and stuff. As for wheels, I like the alloys better then the steel wheels. Also Mazda 323 alloy wheels look good and the Festiva center cap fits in them. And they are 13in!
