        That's exactly what it is.
You could get it from the Ford dealer.

If you are pulling it out of a car, get the entire wiring harness for it.
It is separate from the rest of the wiring.
Get everything you have in the pictures.
There are also switches on the brake and clutch pedals. Get those. The one to the clutch pedal has vacume lines running to it.
There is also a sensor where the speedometer cable goes into the transmission.
It goes between the speedo cable and the trany. Unscrew the speedo cable then unscrew the sensor from the transmission.
IMPORTANT: when you remove the sensor from the transmission there is a small key (short cable) about 2 inches long that goes between the sensor and the transmission.
You don't want to loose that.

I still have the installation instructions if you need help.

        Great find!

No, no guys. This a cc setup in an escort. im not that lucky. but she never uses it, so its mine if it can be made to work.

and since my first post i traced the system more carefully, and it looks like the spedo sensor wont work. much different, do i have any other options for that sensor?

the car is an auto, it has a vac switch on the brake and it also taps into the electric brake switch.

i'd really like to get this in my car, cause i do alot of highway miles. and i even got the pimp int wiper cruize arm that i could wire up with it 8)

Tim, i was doing some searching and i found some old posts of yours... you were talking about a cc setup out of a merc, you were saying something about shorting out the speed sensor, is that how you can get away without the speed sensor?

I tried shorting it and it didn't work too well. I can't remember if it worked or not that way but I ended up installing the speed sensor.

The speed sensor is this little reed switch mounted on the speedometer mechanism. It opens and closes with a frequency depending on the speedo's RPMs. What I did was take that part off and glued it to the Festiva speedo mechanism in about the same location, ran wires to the brain box, and was able to get everything to work ok.

It was pretty simple and I was surprised it actually worked afterward!

The donor car was an '87 Tracer IIRC.

All the wiring was separate from the engine/ECU harness.

              Regards,

              Tim

                  cool.

only problem is i cant figure out the speed sensor. The sensor in the escort dosent look like it will work. It isnt even on the spedo cable. There is a factory sensor ontop of the tranny and the cc taps into it from what i can tell.

elcamino, what did you use for your speed sensor?

I pulled the kit out today. I was wrong about the sensor. There seems to be some kind of factory sensor on the spedo cable. It was bolted to the tranny and there was a two wire plug plugging into it, two wires, a white/black one and a blue one. The wires ran into the factory harness. The green cruise wire was tapped into the white/black one.. Im preety sure i cant remove the sensor from the escort because im 99% sure its factory. When i was at the j/y there was another escort with cruize on it, it was factory with the button on the steering wheel exct but the sensor looked the same so i tried to remove it, but i dropped my 10mm socket when i was trying to get it off, and it rolled under the rack the car was on and i couldnt get it back

elcamino, how did your sensor work? did it fit right up, or did you have to redneck it like Tim did? My kit is a dealer installed ford kit too.
