  • SIDE SKIRTS!

YAY! So I come home to find UPS has delivered the first piece of my FMS body kit. The side skirts.

How hard are they to install? Am I better off getting a professionnal body shop to do?

I remember DJ (RIP I still can't quite wrap my head around that concept) saying he had 2-way taped & riveted his.

2-way tape I know, rivets i know less.
Mon arme a moi, c'est un stylo.

2 way tape along the center and either rivet or screw the ends and along the bottom would be the way I would do it.

25horseplay, 2 way tape along the centre, like the whole lenght wise? (rivets sound more permanent) I have to go read the "how to paint sticky"

3M 2side tape is the berries and works great.

Yes, along the whole center section under the doors. Then secure the ends with some screws or rivets.

Sooooo the 3m 2-way tape the lenght of the lip that fits under the door, then some rivets (or screws, but in my case, rivets) @ both ends.

Ok. I read Mattswab's paint sticky. Going to start by painting them. Maybe a test fit on ivory, as ebony is in the shop getting new cv's & breaks, & clutch, & a head gasket.

Then 3m lenghtwise, rivets front & back & some more 3m on the rear side.

                    Remember to use stainless screws!!!

You don't want to go to all of that work onky to have rusty screw showing!

^^use aluminum rivets... or you can prolly get stainless rivets but alum is much more common i think.

So I got 2 cans of generico black. looked high & low for ford black, no luck. I also picked up 2 rolls of heavy duty 2 way exterior use tape. It's scotch & not 3m but I don't think that it should make too much of a difference. I also got a can of primer & 2 cans of clear. Some emery paper 200 & 1000 grit.
