  • painted an installed the bumper today

Well, I took the bumper off the blue car and used some great gray paint on it today before installing it on the silver. Its Dupli-color bumper coating paint from advance auto, and I bought the medium gray... matches the festiva color perfectly

    Before...

    After...

If you've been following my "re-badging" thread you may notice that I've chosen the "LTS" badging... I decided to go with it cause its original, and not many people will get it, which will hopefully prompt some questions... and because the festiva was available in "L" "LX" and "L-Plus" its not too far fetched for there to be an "LTS" model as well... of the EGT, Escort LX-E, Protege, and Tracer LTS, the LTS was the highest luxury model of the BP cars, which reflects my future plans for the festy
    No festiva for me ATM...

      Finally!
      lol... looks good!

I like not having any badges on my car, because people always walk around it like "what is that thing?"... however the LTS will bring up some questions too, i'm sure!

its available at advance auto parts and auto zone down here so I'm sure you'd be able to get it up there... it might be sold under a different name though. Probably your best bet is to check their site and see if they have any canada retailers listed.

How hard was it to take the bumper off? Does it come off as just the outer shell? What actually holds the thing on? I'm asking cuz I'm going to have to take bumpers off both ebony & Ivory as soon as the rest of my fms kit makes it in.

Well I've never tried to take just the shell off but it appears to be held on by some kinda plastic screws/caps/fasteners/something... they look like they would shred and break pretty easily so I didn't mess with them since I was replacing the whole beam anyway and not just the cover. The beam itself is held on by six 14mm nuts, three on each side. On each side two of them are located inside the hatch (one is behind the plastic interior peice) and one is located underneath the vehicle. Don't forget to remove/take loose the little metal support bars on each side (10mm screws) you'll see them when you are underneath taking off the main nuts. After that the whole thing comes right off as one unit, beam and cover together.

Yeah, It's as I thought. I'm going to have to remove the "beam" when I do the swap with the FMS ones. This should be a learning experience. I have no idea how they'll hold on. I have heard a few people on the bords say they run without them... Hmm Sorry about the disgeretion. Just needed some info pertianing to what you had done, not hijack your thread.
