  • 323 steering wheel conversion problem....

My car has the 323 steering wheel from I think about an 88-89 323.....I like the look ( factory look with the old school MAZDA in the center of the wheel) but the problem is that it sits too close to the wiper switch so close that you smack it on every time you take a turn.....has anyone ever made or used any spacers to bring the wheel out a bit or found any other way to make it fit better??? are there any other factory mazda steering wheels that will fit better???........

get a hub adapter from ebay, like 5 bucks, it will move the wheel about 4 inches closer to you

i still got an 88 323, the steering wheel in it looks just like the festy one except has the mazda symbol instead of ford

          1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
          1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Sleeper, what you need is a turn signal unit from an older Festiva or a Mercury Tracer or 323. The older wheels will match the older signal units, while the newer signal units will be too close when using the older wheels.

Match newer signal units with newer wheels and vice versa.

Sounds good.....however it's not the turn signal that's in the way....it the wiper switch......but if I remember that is all one unit....so i'm sure you mean if I go to the older one the wiper switch will not get in the way....right???? Also is that black steering wheel from a 90+ 323????? Mine is like damkids.....looks like the festy on only with mazda in the center......If I go to the later one.....that black one.....will I still have clearance issues or will that fix that problem......I want a mazda wheel....but I don't want the symbol that the newer mazda's came with...

^-- are you guys talking about the 323 wheel that is identical to the festy one except for the logo? If thats the case you know you can pop the logo off the 323 one and replace the ford logo on your festy one with it right?

                    ^-- ah, ok- that style.

some of the 323 wheels had a square logo that you can swap into the festy wheel.
