85% tint

i have 35% on my back windows and u can barely even tell that they have tint on them. so when i paint my car im takin it off and puttin 20% on. in Illinois where im from as long as u dont tint the front three, only the back three then u can go as dark as u want
the only way to get by with dark tint all the way around in illinois is to have a persciption by a doctor and the paperwork to prove it if a cop pulls u over for it.

The letter from the doc , does not work anymore in Illinois .

PA allows any window BEHIND the front driver and passenger can be tinted to any degree UP TO 20% (any darker requires a permit). the front windows can have a max of 50% unless they are tinted from factory and then there is NO tint allowed. there is a loop-hole for that though and that deals with vehicals having only two side windows (2 door trucks, fieros, MR-2s etc) then there's a max of 35% allowed.

for inspection purposes, any tint, so long as it allows the opperator to see out, is permitted on the side windows. nothing below 3.5" from the top of the windshield and 3" from the bottom is allowed. Note: this has nothing to do with the enforcement of tinted windows that the cops are concerned with. it's odd that we ahve 2 laws dealing with tint in this state.

see, i read from PennDOT Inspection Handbook (inspection mechanic), that's why i said there are 2 different rules reguarding window "glazing": one for me and one for the cops...

i have yet to have any problem running 35%on my fiero as it isn't all that dark, but it sure cuts the glare down and i don't have to use the 'night' position on my rearview which is very nice. i run 20% on the rear 3 on Scrapy and haven't put the 50% on the fronts yet, but even with that, it makes the whole car look darker...

where i work im going to have to go with 20% cause about a month ago some homeless guys that sit on the tracks by my workplace got into my car and stole over $700 worth of my stuff cause they could look in and see it. i have since built a back dask for my festiva but i plan to put some 6.5" component speakers in it and i dont want them to see them so im tintin my windows dark. hell i might even get that window film with the lil hole in it. you can see out but u cant see in.

It is now illegal for window tinting material to be applied to the rear, side and door windows of motor vehicles that does not allow for more than 32 percent of light transmission that what it is in Georgia, so do i go out and get the tint should i get one that says 30% or 60% still a little confused about the #s

the higher the % #, the more light is allowed to pass through. so, 30% is darker than 60%, use 60%.
