  • dash removal

hay guys, i was wondering if anybody knew what was holding the dash on, I can't find all the screws and I'm getting fed up :? , its really dark where I'm working and with the motor apart I can't move it into the light (its in a bay) I need to get at the engine computer behind the left speaker, and since the cover over that speaker is part of the dash, I have to take off the whole dash  what do I need to remove to take the dash off?

    1) The front speaker covers are not part of the dash!
They do come off! You need to use a spackling blade to pop the
    bottom snap fit out.

    2) You don't need to remove the dash, or the speaker or its cover to get to the ECU!
I've pull more than one out.
Just have to feel you way around the ECU think there are 2, if not 3,
faseners holding it to the fire wall. Then there are the connectors so
be careful. Its difficult to see even if you had light! So no light isn't really
    a hindrance!

    Good luck!

Understand its not "fall off a chair" easy!
But with with some patience it will be a lot faster than pulling the dash!

Anyone recall what kind of fasteners are used?
IIRC, they are the ubiquitous 10mm bolts, but could be wrong!

Yup, 2 10mm bolts at the bottom, and the top is just hooked in place. I think you need to push up once the bottom bolts are out.

Yeah, Monkeyracing is correct about the clip!
            Forgot about that!
Good point too, because as I recall, I spent quite a while trying to figure out why the ECU wouldn't come out after I removed the bolts!
