Justy was the first AWD compact car that came to mind.

IIRC, Fuji Heavy Industries owns Subaru. I don't think they're a knockoff of another brand.

Lol.... you obviously must not have many Subaru's in North America

so i did a Lil search and the first quote to come up was this
In effect, the Justy is a Hungarian-built Suzuki Swift with four-wheel drive, but that's no bad thing as Suzuki is renowned for its reliability. The finish looks good and, with the exception of the cheap interiors, it should stand up well to working hard.

This is a pic of a 1998 Subaru Justy... so yeah it's a swift
(Suzuki is my passion, Mazda is my flirting distraction)

Admitivelly the 88-92 justy's i saw on Cardomain whilst searching for pics look nothing like a swift but the 96 onwards are... i vaguely remember tripping out when i saw the Subaru badging on a swift in UK... never occured to me it may have been AWD
