  • Aspire Master Cylinder & Brake Booster on a Festiva ?

Anyone tried to put a Aspire Master Cylinder & Brake booster on the Feastiva? Or will it even fit?

  • #2
It will fit and has been done before. I believe there are a few members on the board who have done this when they did the aspire brake upgrade.

Did they happen to mention how much work was involved and what kind of improvements were gained if any at all?

Ive got the booster and m/c out of a MTX aspire. Bolts up but you have to bend one brake line.
I didn't notice any improvement but my lines haven't been bled properly. ( I know for a fact theres tons of air in the lines)

Its a direct bolt on? and if I am running the manual brakes do I need a manual booster and m/c or does it even matter? and is there a performance difference between the manual booster and m/c oposed to an auto booster and m/c?

directly bolts on. just have to relocate 1 line from the side to the top (or was it the other way around?)

I think the auto booster and MC is abit bigger than the MTX

So........................ I get the idea it might not be worth the trouble! The booster is a lot larger DIA.

as I understand it, MC is worth it (w/ Aspire swap), booster - no significant difference

with the aspire swap the festiva M/C works just fine, the aspire brakes already have SO much stopping power on the festiva, i personally don't see a point to upgrading the M/C

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

The peddle feel is alot better with the aspire MC. The booster is unnecessary.

The larger diameter aspire master cylinder moves more fluid for the same distance when compared to the festiva one. Since you have larger calipers(aspire swap) it requires more fluid to apply the same amount of pressure to the pads.

So in a nutshell, if you have an aspire swap without the aspire MC you will be required to press the peddle farther down to achieve the same level of braking force as if you had the aspire mc also.

Take it from someone who has had all forms of this swap.

Aspire auto fronts festiva rears aspire MC
                        Auto aspire festiva mc

Auto brakes & aspire mc is the way to go.

I bought the aspire booster and Master cylinder (20.00). The festiva brakes has been questionable for some time. Even when I put new drums, shoe's and pad's on.

What the %&#@, this can't hurt anything. It will give me a reason have a few beers and leave my wife alone. Oh, and get my hands dirty!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was my understanding that the auto brakes and manual brakes had the same stopping force however the autos were a bit heavier.
