  • Race wheel/tire combo on the cheap?

So I am always browsing, hoping to find that bargain deal that I can't pass up(much like my festiva )

Frisby Performance Tire has Hankook z211s in 185/60/13 for 75 bucks a piece. 205/60/13s are $10 more a tire.

Now, I don't know if any of you are familiar with Diamond Racing wheels, they are the company that makes the widened steelies.

MiniStock lightweight wheels, 13x6, $57 a piece for the spun 11lbs wheels.

After looking at almost a grand for Hoosiers, this set up is looking mighty tempting. The Hankooks obviously AREN'T Hoosiers as far as performance, but you get my point. Any thoughts or comments?
Why no, officer. I don't know how fast I was going. My speedometer only goes up to 85...

You can get a set of civic VX's and throw them on some 22x7 hoosier slicks or some

I was thinking a road race/autox tire combo. I've got the DRs for when I go to the drag strip, but I want to try my hand at the road course with the AoN.

I have the Diamond racing wheels in 13x6, and run 20x8x13 Hoosier Cantelevered racing tires.. used, off Ebay... I got 4 delivered for $120... so it was like under $400 for 4 tires and wheels, delivered... pretty sweet.

They held up to a about 15 races, around 100 runs.... rotated them front to back, and it looks like I will get another few races out of them before I need another used set from Ebay.... bargain!!

what do you mean you can't find them? there are a ton listed now... search "13 hoosier" and you'll pull up quite a few... THIS is a set of 21.5x8x13's, you can get 4 of them for $45 + ~35 SH and you have a set of 4 hoosiers for $80 (they may charge double shipping since you have to buy two sets of two)... this is what i will do if i ever need slicks.

I can vouch for the quality of the diamond racing wheels, my buddy got some a while back to mount his slicks on and they have been nothing but great for him so far.

actually that would be 4 pounds more total of all wheels...

                              That sounds "irrational" to me!

                              You meant "rotational" didn't you?

                              It's also "unspring" weight.

Losing weight from tires and wheels is about the best place to lose it. Excess weight there will slow both your acceleration and suspension travel, as well as "total" weight.
