  • Rear end looseness (?)

I just got my new tires: Nokian "W"s. They are all seasons rated for severe weather (ie., snow).

I had felt some kind of "looseness" that seems to be my rear suspension as I take higher speed right turns. Maybe 45mph and up and not too tight.

This does not feel like it's from the front, so I doubt this is a wobbly ball joint. I went on a trip to WV and felt my rear bearings were too loose, so I tightened them. The problem seemed to get better, but I still have some rear end looseness on right turns.

I can grab my rear tires now and pull them side to side and there is no more play (as before I tightened them).

Any other things this "looseness" could be?

I am shooting in the dark, but doesn this festiva has an aspire swap on it? Could the main bolts possibly have loosened or possible broke one?

Yes, it's had the Aspire swap. I suppose it's possible something has broken. I should probably put the whole car up on stands and have a nice look-see with a prybar.

I did look at the left rear axle bracket and it seemed tightened down fine.

Some of this may be the new, taller 175/70 tires. But it does seem there is more "sway" turning right than turning left at freeway speeds.

Is there anything that could happen with loose rear bearings (too much play) that have been tightened? I plan on putting in new bearings in spring, but maybe I should do it sooner.
