Brake booster upgrades

I know already that the aspire brake booster will fill but has anybody tried anything else?? I was thinking about a miata 97 or so. That brake booster is massive and it looks like it could fit maybe if it doesn't interfere with the windshield wiper motor. Comments please.

why would you want a larger booster? it will detract from pedal feel and control (pedal will feel soft)

A power booster helps assist pushing the master cylinder piston when you apply the brakes.

The stopping distance of a car is not necessarily directly related to the feel. A poor feeling brake system can have very good performance, i.e. Jaguar. While a great feeling system can have lousy performance, i.e. Ford Focus

Honestly i could care less about feel as long as it does its j-o-b.

system peformance depends greatly on weight transfer, the bias of braking force and the coefficient of friction between the pads and rotor, and tire to pavement. Booster won't change any of that.

again i ask, why a biger booster? if your pedal is "hard" then your boster isn't doing it's job (replace with working unit) going bigger isn't going to solve any braking issues you have unless you like having an "easy" pedal.

i hate my moms toyota every time you tap the brake it feels like you hit a brick wall. i got to drive a 1970 chevy pickup with a 400ci small block (LOTS of POWER ) but the brake pedel was such a long stroke it was like pushing a clutch pedel only a lot harder lol

I like an easy soft pedal, I just don't like the look of the 5-6" booster that stock festiva's have. I want something a little less in depth but the overall diameter bigger so i can test fit a strut bar that will clear the components. It's an aluminum brace off of a car that is so close in measurements to the festiva that you can basically bolt it on. The only thing that is holding it back from bolting up is the cap of brake reservior.

On my future Speedstiva I'd like to just eliminate the brake booster!

Any possibility of that? My '76 Chevette had no brake booster, and the feel was just fine.

umm guys,
i have just installed an EGT booster into my festy,
i reused the stock festy master cylinder b/c the gt has 3 lines, whereas the festy has only 2,
I HAVENT drove the car YET, but with the engine running, it has a much nicer feel to it than the festy one,
i repeat
"i have personally installed a 1991 ford escort GT brake booster in my 1988 ford festy, IT IS A DIRECT BOLT IN JOB NO GRINDING OR FABRICATING REQUIRED, you do, however need to adjust the push rod that connects the booster to the pedal., you dont even need to bleed the brake system just lay the master cylinder over to the side while you swap the boosters.

So a 91 egt? sweet! If you want a new MC you can use one off of the Bf chassis code 323. I like the style of the reservoir ocntainer much better.
