Getting ready to buy some coilovers... what strut??

I am using 9" cause that what I had already, you could use a 8" spring with the adjusting nuts turned up
almost all the way. With a 7" spring even with the adjusters turned all the way up you would have about an
inch of droop travel where the spring would rattle around. I think 8" would be the shortest you could safely
use without tender springs. With a 4" coilover body (comes just short of the top of the strut housing) and
an 8" spring you could get about a 5" or more total drop (which would just be dumb). Using the 9" spring
it lands the adjuster nuts about right in the middle of the coilover body. Gives around 1.5 - 2" drop and allows
room in both directions for corner weighting and height adjustment. - Chris

That sounds perfect Chris. What length springs are you using on front, and what application coilovers are you using, front and rear?

I have 9" on both front and rear 220 lb rear, 180 fr. The coilover setup is from Ractive (Toucan Industries) for a 90-99 miata
I got it on ebay for 50 bucks. they sell for about 200 new so it seemed like a deal. doing it again i would buy a dropzone
set for a civic. the civic set has longer bodies for the front. also an 8" spring would do better on the front. the springs
are from QA1 (from summit) 40 bucks each for the 9" thats why i went with those. the 8" QA1 springs are 60 bucks same
as the eibach ones. so i saved 80 overall using 9". Read my post in "The last spring, shock, ride quality" from a month or so ago,
it has all the info on spring rates and lengths from qa1 and eibach.

I am working on finding an adjustable front (the people at autozone like me so i get to open boxes). so i'm going to do a comparision
between the festy and 323 struts sometime this week (get a definitive answer). - Chris
