  • Festiva/Aspire rear Struts height ( Fixed )

I have done a search but never found what i was after....

What i would like to know is this...

Does anyone know if the spring seat is higher up on the aspire rear strut then on the festiva rear strut....

im after the measurement in red....

reason being i have factory ford mags to go on my 93 festiva but the rear tyres rub on the strut but if the aspire are longer in this area it will solve my problem....

And on a side note i am unable to change my Tyre profile from a 185/60/14 to a lower profile as they are not available in Australia...

i know i can go thinner Tyre like a 175/165 but that is not the point i would like as much Tyre as possible and a 195/45/14 does not exist in Australia...

    Cheers Craig....

the spring perch is higher by about 3/4" (1.84cm) or so i'm told. you should only need about 7mm extra clearance to fit the 185s. i'm about to try struts from a last generation "J" car (cavalier/sunfire): perch hight of 14", and the valving is stiffer.

Not trying to hijack this thread but......Will stock aspire struts and springs make my festiva have a higher stance. I kinda want my festiva to be a little taller.
never mind I just fopund the answer a few posts down
        Thanx

          Got it sorted

OK after heaps of searching and lots of Questions i have fixed my rear suspension.......

As stated before i am running a 185/60/14 on my car as 195/45/14 are not available in Australia and my rears were rubbing on the spring perch....

I now a have a set of WD Festiva/Aspire rear struts in with the stock Festiva spring....( sits a little bit higher (1/2 in) but have lower springs coming )

I know this has been suggested before many a times but i had to make sure it was going to clear the Tyre ....

So for all you Aussie WA Festiva owners out there do this and you will be able to run standard Capri/TX3 Alloy rims with a 185/60/14 Tyre.....

So thanks to everyone for there help....finally i can fang it around corners and not worry about it sliding on stock tyres....

          Craig...

tyre will clear if you roll the fender lip. the new strut will give you the clearance needed on the inside.

never had an issue with the tyre on the out side at the lip/fender but with the stock festiva strut and the 185/60/14 tyre it was binding on the spring perch.... even with a 6mm spacer it has some clearance from the lip...
