So seeing as the stock wheels on the car are pretty badly bent and can't be properly balanced I picked up some replacement, straighter, steel wheels to get rid of the vibration.
They were alot straighter, and not nearly as rusty and ugly as the ones on the car now. I decided that while they were still seperate from the car to give them a good cleaning up. A little bit of time and about $10 dollars later, this is what I ended up with:
This wheel was the rustiest one but it cleaned up nice, and so did the other three.
Painting them was easy enough.
1- Washed off as much grime and mess as possible with soapy water and a stiff bristled brush.
2- Went at the rustier spot with some sandpaper
3- Steel wool and SOS pads to get into all the nooks and crannies and rough it up a little bit for primer.
4- Two coats of generic rust fighting primer
5- About 4 thin coats of thin wheel paint from the local cambodian tire.
6- Two coats of cheapo clear
Now I've just got to put a quick coat of wax on them, switch the tires over and bolt them on and hopefully they'll look decent and clean up easily for years to come.
I should get them switched over in the next few days and I'll post up some before and after pics of the car. Should clean it up nicely.
