  • Aspire Master cylinder length

Just a quick one...did a search but found nothing....

Does anyone know the actual length of the Aspire master Cylinder and booster.. compared to the Festiva unit....

the reason is i think my master cylinder is going to hit the rear pulley on my BP if i sit it in the normal position....I may have to lean the motor forward if they are the same length....

I looked at mine and there doesnt look like theres a difference. I didnt measure but when I put in my Aspire booster/master the back brake line was right where it needed to be and I used the Aspire front brake line.

thanks for that...Went and had a talk with my Engineer today and i am going the either run a remote booster like a VH40/44 or relocate the booster behind the the firewall and only have the master cylinder in the engine bay.....

Should give me a few more inches

and i also have to use the booster and master cylinder from the donor car that i get the brakes from.....

I've asked this before, but never had any opinions:

Is it possible to just remove the brake booster and run "manual" brakes?

My '76 Chevette had manual brakes and I never had a problem with a too-heavy brake pedal. (Just a too-heavy clutch pedal!) FYI, Chevettes were about 2150 pounds and had solid front discs.

I just don't see why a Festiva would require power assisted braking.

Okay, I admit it: the only "power assist" I want is THE ENGINE!!

I'd want this for my future "Speedstiva," which will be 50-100 pounds lighter than Luxstiva. I'm aiming for about a 110 hp B6 SOHC with a Festiva 5 speed. I wanna lighten the front end as much as possible. It will have the manual Aspire brake setup with metal brake hoses and highest quality everything.
