  • What did YOU use to convert lug bolts to studs?

I had an emergency wheel issue the other day, and I couldn't find long studs to replace my lug bolts.

I ended up using high grade 12mm x 1.5 x 50mm bolts, and screwed them in from the inside of the drums on the rear. The heads clear and I will either take them back out and red locktite them, or maybe even tack weld them in...

I wanted actual studs, but couldn't find them..

What did you use, and where did you find them???

I asked the people at Autozone to check a few bearing sizes between the Festiva and the BF323, and all bearings should be the same size... So I THINK you can use BF323 hubs that use press-in studs. They also have the 4x114.3 mm bolt pattern.

For the rear, you might have to get a little more creative (as you already have), because the Festiva uses such a small drum size, I don't think the 323's drums will fit over it correctly, they're too big...

I went to the local A&A Store here... I ordered Topline brand part #C948XXl4 (12MM x 1.5) and 2" long.

I used a set of these on Pimptiva 3 and on Casper and they work great. I keep my wheels on with a set of Gorilla Locking Lut Nuts.

How do the studs stay in? Do you have to weld them in? I was thinking of getting some aftermarket wheels but I wasn't sure if I have to convert it to studs or not.

i know mine are 12x1.5, but i have no idea where they're from.
my dad did them way before i got the car so he could put the AR rims on.

The Rx7 and 323 used the same thread, so studs sold for those cars work. And the nuts can come from a junkyard off any 323 or RX7

I ordered the ones from Summit.. I will leave the bolts in for the rear, as they are secure as all get out... I will put the Summit units on the front and I ordered new "bulge" open end nuts all the way round.

                  thanks guys..

Mine are held in with red lock-tite.

I've taken the wheels off 10+ times and they haven't let go yet.
