i do believe this has already been discussed in another thread... actually i know it has, because i gave my input on what would be required depending on how you choose to alter the suspension...
heres a simple lift using aspire suspension on my car, i have cut front festy springs and struts, and full aspire springs and struts in the rear to lift the back giving it a very raked look, also im using a VERY tall tire for a festiva, a 175/80r13 in the back, and a 175/70r13 in front (im using full aspire suspension as well) which looks quite meaty for a tire, if i wished to go bigger i could as ive still got quite a bit of wheel gap i could still fill in.
as compared to the stock tires and suspension when i first got the car...
i do have a set of prototype brackets i worked on a while back that actually drop the mouting points for all suspension pieces down roughly 3 inches.. i may rebuild them now that i bought a nice tig welder though... im still not sure about how its going to affect the angles of the axles... i can only hope it wont be too extreme and put stress on them... eventually when i get to doing that i will post pics of the outcome, as of right now im a little busy with a couple other parts ive bought for this same project... :twisted:1992 Festiva... 8" lift? with superswampers...lets see, bolt the festiva body to a modified suzuki samurai or other small offroad vehicle chassis. you will rip the cv joints apart with that kind of lift on a festiva, not to mention the fact that your screwing up your final drive ratio by switching to much larger diameter tires...and someone has already done an offroad festiva, so it still wouldn't be one of a kind.Jesus is on my dashboard, But the Devil is under my hood

yeah the main problem is trying to lift it with cv joints...same problem you rin into trying to lift an irs baja bug...there is a limit to how much you can lift it before you get at too extreme of an angle (i think anything over 23 degrees) and the joint will just come apart. The one way to get more lift is to widen the suspension track, thus decreasing the angle of the cv joint, problem is to do that you would have to fabricate all new lower control arms, have longer halfshafts custom made, and set in the geometry for the strut mount, possibly using custom struts and springs. all in all it would be much simpler to attach the festiva unibody to an off road vehicles chassis...then your just out some welder time, a custom shorter driveshaft, and a set of aftermarket gauges. oh and it would be a good idea to put in a roll cage if your going that route.Jesus is on my dashboard, But the Devil is under my hood

check down farther towards the bottom of the suspension page and you should see a thread that read "offroad festy spotted in sand dunes"
i discussed much of what has already been stated in there... the axle angles are the main problem, a small lift can be done such as a 2-3 inch possible lift which is still going to make a festy look pretty tall if you use a taller diameter tire like i am using, i have roughly a foot maybe a little more of cleanance in the back and id have the same in front if i used full aspire springs instead of cut festy springs...
this is also with 300lbs of stereo subwoofer and equipment in the back...1992 Festiva... BP-T, Escort G5MR, no crossmember, aspire brakes, Megasquirt, Toyota COP's, coilovers and 6 puck SPEC clutch!
