rear sway bar for festiva

I know I saw someone with a pipe bolted in the rear axle. (I'm guessing this is like the Aspire's rear sway control). What I don't know is the size, and type of pipe that was used. I know the rear axle needs to twist, but how much is to much when 'tightening it up'?

Anyone do this?

on size just put as big as pipe as you can fit in there.

If I just grabbed a length of steel pipe, drilled some holes into it, and bolted into the bracket, would it stiffen the car up too much?
