  • Someone Please Help! Tire and Wheel Question

Ok, so I went out to wash the Festy b/c I'm gonna wax it. First thing I notice when I walk out is metal showing through on drivers side front tire. I still have the stock alloy 12's. Nobody has these tires!!! Tire rack has them but they are back ordered and Pep Boys can order them, but they are $66 a piece. I want the $34 Kumhos from tire rack, ha. So what should I do? Anyone know a good place to get these? Or, I thought about going to a 13" wheel. If I do that what size etc do I need? This is my daily driver so I need to do something soon! Thanks!

Thats how it works. Sometimes you just stumble on those OMG deals.
Anyways 12" tires are becoming increasingly difficult to find. If you want to jump up to 13" you can either go to Discount Tires, Pep Boys or someplace like that and get one of their wheel and tire deals. Or you can hit the JY and find some 13s there and just get new tires put on those.

I personally like the Federal's in 155/80/12 ($100). These have been the best bang for the buck stock sized tires I've used. Here they are New.

The Kumho PowerStar's work decently, but they're a little more out of pocket ($140). I think you just pay for the name brand...
Only this slightly used picture. Can't find the picture of when they were new...

The Mertit Metric-T's were similar to the Kumho's, but when the tread wore out, you can tell the tire design is almost like a re-tread ($100).

                          New.

                          Slightly used after one night.

If you're just using the car to commute and have the stock brakes, there really isn't any reason to up your wheel and tire size. I've tried four different brand tires (Goodyear, Merrit, Kuhmo, and Federal) and I only had to wait a day to get the Federal's. The only reason I'd switch wheels, is because I keep cracking the 12'' steelies. I've cracked four of them already. Then again, I do drive slightly harder than the average Festiva owner...

Funny - I'm new and still knew Monsoon was grieving over the wheels and tires Q&A.

                            I learned early.

Anyway, I doubt you'll need these in Georgia, but Canadian Tire has 12" snows here which I run year round cause of dirt roads in the summer, and you'll never know when there's gonna be a snowstorm in May... EH!
                            Cheers!
