  • sway bar troubles

tryed to put the sway bay from a aspire on Gizmo today and guess what not fitting. Does the hump in the sway bar go over the crossmember because if it does take a look
it hits the lower rad hose pushing it out of the mount.
    any suggestions

      It goes over the xmember.

It will push on the hose.

It may hit the front trany mount (mine does a little, but not too bad).

Keep in mind, when you lower the car, the part that goes over the xmember will rotate forward ever so slightly, which will help the situation a little. While it will push on the hose, it shouldn't be enough to cause any problems.

Having not done this before take this for what its worth.
It looks like you have enough hose that if you cut off an 1" or so of it you might solve your interference issue.
Of course, as Skeeter said it might take care of itself after complete install and remember he has done this!

That's what I did and now it just barely touches it. I would recommend getting a new hose and a screw clamp instead of that springy clamp thing. I had a bad clearance problem with the motor mount so I took a power hacksaw and cut part of the metal and rubber off the side where it was hitting the sway bar. Then I took a piece of 1/8" steel plate and welded across the end of the mount so it now looks like a fat letter "D" instead of a circle. If you do weld it, do a little at a time so you don't burn the rubber in the mount.
            You gonna race that thing?

Still does not sit right cutting the rad and hose is an option but how about moving the rad supports 2" to the right this would definetly solve the problem. Although cutting would be easier. I will give it a try, if I dont like it I still can move the rad supports.
will let you know tomorrow whats up.

Yep, if you still think its too tight of a fit cutting should work. I didn't cut mine, though perhaps it wouldn't have hurt.

Like Festy46, I have somewhat severe interference with the front trany mount. I've been trying to get my hands on a used trany mount, so that I can cut and weld it just like 46 described, except I'm going to turn mine into a solid polly mount at the same time. Maybe while were yarding before the festiva madness meet I'll be able to get my hands on one!

Find one? I'm not sure... I'll be making my own just by filling the stock mount with poly construction adhesive kindof stuff. Might not be the nicest way to do it, but I made one so far and I've heard of others doing it will success so it seems worth it.

I think a rad from an aspire is the answer tothe lower rad problem, just need to find one.

you'll have to mod the rad support to move the pass side mounts.
