i cant get my aspire sway bar to fit my festiva.
the problem is it seems like it wont go back far enough to go into the groove where the mounting plates go.
any ideas would help.

I've never done this, but are you using the Aspire mounting blocks? I think you're supposed to use those instead of the Festiva's rubber blocks.

It's hitting the round part of the front transmission mount. I took a power hacksaw and cut part of the mount (both metal and rubber) off until it looked like a fat letter "D". Then I welded a piece of 1/8" steel across the end of the cut to keep the mount stable. Weld a little bit at a time so you don't burn the rubber.

no, but the round tranny mount on top of the tranny crossmember hits the sway bar... if that clears it up at all

Mine hits in the same place you'll be fine.

i cant get it to go all the way back. i cant get the two mounting plates lined up.

I did the same thing...I didnt like it hitting the mount sooooo I redrilled the mounting holes for the mount that bolts down to the cross member and than I moved the tranny mounting location also. Basically you have to redrill 3 holes for this to work. Now I have great clearance and everything is in stock location. Whatever you do, DO NOT modify the rubber! This will change the geometry of the suspension and you will be driving sideways. The brackets for the swaybar from Aspire and Festi are the same, the only pieces that are different are the bushings, which have larger openning to accomodate the larger swaybar.

Look at the space between the bar and the round tranny mount! Not much but its not rubbing either!

so you basically moved the mount holes on the cross member and the whole that the tranny mounts to the mount correct?

Simple huh? But thats it! Anyways, I hope this helped? Also, fix that rubber bushing/bracket while you're at it please....
