  • Please Help!!

    Hey guys,

I bought the 323 gtx wheels a while back,i believe i put the pic up some pics as well.

Anyway, today i went out and bought the 185/60/14 Tires. I am running STOCK festiva.
Also, on the rear I added 1/4inch spacers, and iits still touching the struts: Drivers side a lot more than passenger!

I really need to know what should i do to solve the problem. I have called everyplace around town to find if anyone carries a 3/8inch spacer, and noone does.

I am lost, and i really want these wheels on my festiva, as they look sick and more importantly i have paid for them.
    Please help me.

Take both of your 1/4 spacers and put them on the same side, then check your clearance!

I tried that, very good clearence but then my lug bolts don't go on! see my prob

Also, i was thinking of putting washers on, is that okay or would they break? it might make the tire wobble too? not sure

        Can get longer lug bolts!
Only need one set of 4 for the driver-side rear!
Even with one 1/4" spacer I'd check the amount of threads the OEM lugs have in the drum!
So might need 2 sets of four!

I got new lug bolts from one custom shop, paid $60, and realized the wheels still do not work.
And that was the only shop in town who was actually carrying lug bolts!

I will call around on monday and if nothing works out, then i am just going to put some thick washers and make this thing work

I had the same problem...so what I did was...I took the struts off...I cut the solid lower conecting rod in half, than I cut I believe it was 5/8" steel tube which slipped perfectly over the ends and I welded it in very quickly so I wouldnt overheat the darn strut. Anyways, I cut the tubes about 1" longer what the original length of the buttom was so that made the whole strut raise up that much and no more rubbing problems!

The lower part pained red...I just found the pic...it might be easier to see and understand now....sorry

There have been numerous post on how the GTX wheels don't quite fit as well as the 185/60 tires but props to you for trying.

Now for a solution. Try Gorilla automotive products for longer bolts or for studs. There are a few threads on the site about them. I think Summit sells wheel spacers.

Get rid of the lug bolts, convert to studs with nuts.
Order studs only after you figure out how long you need.

Please stand at the front of the class, with chalk in hand, and better explain so this "special ed" student(me) can understand, please.

Shoot...I wish I took pics of the strut when I modified it. What I did was (look at the pic above I already submitted) the buttom of the strut/shock which is painted red, I cut it in half and than I welded a steel pipe extension which basically went over the rods. The pipe was about 1" longer therefore extended the distance between the mount(bottom) to the spring cup where the wheels always rub. I'm sorry I should've taken pics of this mod...I just didnt know anyone will have the same issues with wheels rubbing. I hope that cleared thigs up a little Levitan??? If not I will draw it out? That would be the best I could do? ok?
