  • ABS equipped Aspire and struts

    Hello All,

I'm looking at a 97 Aspire with ABS and checking out prices of some of the things that may need to be replaced soon.

Looking at some of the online part sites they list replacement struts for the Aspire without ABS only.

Is there really a difference between ABS and non ABS struts? Any other parts that may be different?

    Thanks for your help!

I've never seen an ABS Aspire, but my understanding is that yes, there is a difference between front struts.

Unfortunately, I don't know what. I think my Aspire shop manual is from '95 or '96. Was ABS only a '97 option? If it was offered earlier I'll consult my Aspire manual to see if it lists the differences.

When I get out to the garage today I'll check it anyway.

      that's easy...

with ABS = little bracket for sensor wiring welded to the strut

      w/out ABS = no bracket

just wire tie the wiring to the strut.
