Can't wait to see it finished. I found some sick 15's I wanna run on the new Frankenstiva. I'm going to have to flare the fenders. The best way i have heard so far is to cut your fender and liner to size, put an (anti seizing agent?) on the foam, tape it to the fender, fibreglass over it a few layers, pop the foam off, sand down and paint. Easy. Sounds easy, anyways

What I think I might do is tape some hobby foam to the fender, shape that, then lay fiberglass over that. Ive been told that it's the easiest way to do it.Why no, officer. I don't know how fast I was going. My speedometer only goes up to 85...

I agree it will be a little skiddish going down the road, but my static contact patch is roughly the same. Increased steering effort but steering like a "coaster wagon" is a little overdramatic. I'm good about checking and maintaining my cars so I am really not too worried. Why no, officer. I don't know how fast I was going. My speedometer only goes up to 85...

CharlieZ, there is no kingpin in a festy, if you're refering to the scrub radius, that shouldn't change either save for the change in tire centerline relative to camber angle.
Teq, too bad you can't upgrade to the Capri turbo brakes, they have stronger bearings and better steering arm geometry.Trees aren't kind to me...

You're right of course. No actual kingpin on a Festy. I used the term to identify the "virtual" kingpin. That is, the axis about which the McPhearson strut rotates. Scrub radius is most likely the correct term. Mounting most RWD wheels on a FWD car will increase the scrub radius to a point of having a serious effect on the geometry, handling, tire wear, front wheel bearing load. Maybe not so much in drag racing.

Arty, what he's referring to is more the SAI (Steering Axis Inclination) than the scrub, but, you are correct about the scrub being out.Jim DeAngelis

Wide tires should not change SAI. The offset of the wheels can affect the scrub radius as stated. A large amount of scrub is not desirable.1986 Comp Prep SVO Mustang(1 of 83) Four cylinder turbo! (Think first Fox body "R" model!)

yup. I wasn't saying the wide tires would change SAI, just that what was being described as the kingpin centerline is referred to as SAI.Jim DeAngelis
