  • need more stopping power

As i read (a debate) on what brakes and suspension fit or work best on the festiva, i have found 3 write ups on aspire brakes, hub, and wheels swaps but i need something bigger and better for drag use. needless to say aspire wheels and brakes arent gonna cut it, so i need faqs not here say. what would be the best brake set up for a festiva.

another thing... i would really like to use a stronger tranny but i havent had any luck with tranny swaps? fabrication is not a problem so if someone has something that requires fab work im all ears.

also i still cant find any other body parts besides FMS. does any body know of a company that sells festiva body parts

p.s. thank you all for all the great info i have gotten from this site so far. i plan on starting a build thread very soon with many pics and detailed description of what all has been done to my car.

capri XR-2 brakes, and the gmr25 trans. as of yet, no one has sucessfully put EGT front brakes on a festy (that i've seen). ask Motoexpress about his experiance with the 2 brake setups (he runs a drilled and slotted Aspire swap, and he drove my stock Capri swap). i drove his car, and then my car, and to me it feels that the capri brakes have more initial bite and more power than his aspire brakes. i can tell you from experiance, that the capris are all but fade proof in the festy (need slightly better pads to be compleatly fade proof).
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

I have cross drilled and slotted aspire rotors and aspire brakes all the way around on my festiva and the stopping power is awesome

The g25mr is the best tranny upgrade

Sorry but Fms is the only place for aftermarket body parts

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Try this site for stock body parts:
The need for a vehicle that is affordable has become a consideration that is utmost in the minds of most buyers. There are many vehicle sellers that have affordable options but you can find a vehicle that is a showroom vehicle to meet your needs. You will however have to determine which vehicle is worth buying. There are a few on the market that are worthwhile and one of these is the Ford Festiva. This is worth buying whether old or new and this is due to the fact that the vehicle is affordable and has a modest performance.

Yup and it also came in the 323 GT and the Escort GT (the EGT was a hydraulic clutch though)

                  First things first.

What sort of braking improvement are you looking for? Increased fade resistance? Shorter stopping distances?

If its shorter stopping distances then your most important upgrade to shortening your braking distances will be stickier tires. Look into R-compounds for the respective wheel size you are running.

If you want more fade resistance, you need to tell us what sort of fade you have encountered? Pad fade or fluid fade? Using a larger rotor setup like the Automatic Aspire setup, good fluid (Motul 600 or Ate super blue) to eliminate fluid fade and pads with a higher temp range (Aspire offers EBC Red and Yellow compounds) to eliminate pad fade, and then finally ducting to the rotors will all go a long way to increasing fade resistance.
