  • BG or BF chassis brake swap

Has anyone done this swap on their festiva? Finding an aspire is hard around here. I found a protege DX that I could probably get the brakes from but I was wondering if am going to run into problems. Here is a good link as to what a BG chassis is for those who are wondering.

I am guessing that a BF is a late 80's 323. There are 3-4 four of these in the junkyard that the protege is in and I was wondering if these would be better than the protege for ease of swap.

One final question. Will the rear axle assembly from either of these chassis bolt in like the aspire one does?

I believe the rear suspension is totally different.

There is some interchangability in the front though. Tie rod ends may be the same, and the (thicker) automatic Aspire rotors are the same as the early Kia Rio. Some of the Escorts may share the same rotors, too. The calipers look very similar, but who knows? I haven't tried any yet.

I know the rear suspension in the BG chassis is different, I didn't look at the BF chassis while I was in the junkyard. I am looking for definite answers, not the normal "it may fit, but i don't know" answers. (Nothing against you, Karl).

I believe a couple people have done the brake swaps from these other chassis or know if it will work.

Does anyone one know the chassis code for the festiva and aspire?
