  • Yokohama Y372 165/70/12 OEM tire

Anyone here use these tires on their Festivas? I just ordered a set from Summit Racing and they will be here in a few days. They are $245 shipped, kinda pricey for a 12" tire but I'm hoping that I will get good performance and life out of these tires.

Tirerack has them for $53 each. The non alloy 145/80 size is $40 but almost an inch narrower.

At $50 each, for someone near Summit, or going to Ohiostiva and willing to pick them up, that ain't a bad price.

They'll handle better than 155/80s, but I notice that treadwear is only rated at 220, pretty low.

If you go to 13" Metro rims, you can get these:

They have a 560 treadwear rating, and are probably better tires anyway. Something to think about when it's time to replace these.

I had a chance to get 13" metro wheels, but I saw them more as a downgrade than an upgrade. More weight and worse looks, but more tire choices.

I honestly didn't even consider tread wear when buying these. I saw the tirerack.com user survey had the tire rated very high at all categories. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treadwear_rating after reading this it seems treadwear indication is meaningless between vendors.

Yeah, I was just reading up on that too. I would then check various Yokohamas, say on Tire Rack, to see how their rating structure works. I pulled up the Avid C33, an all-season tire, and its wear rating is 460, for example.

FYI, Tire Rack has a new Pirelli "Snow Control" severe weather tire in 165/65-13 that costs around $52 each. "In stock." Looks good to me.

                        Right here:

Looks promising if someone wants dedicated snow tires; wouldn't use them for the other three seasons, since snow tires tend to wear excessively compared to typical good-quality four-season tires; and also don't handle all that well on dry pavement. Every design is a compromise.

I purchased a set of Mazda 323 rims for my 89 Festiva, but they didn't fit the center hub. If anyone is in the Hamilton Ontario area they can have them for $20 each. Also, anyone know where to find 12 inch winter tires?
