  • Coil cutting

I know, I know, it's not the ideal route to go!!! I'll be installing
KYB GR2 struts/shocks at all four corners and would like to lower the
car a bit but can't afford the FMS sport springs at this point. I have
both Festiva and Aspire springs, which would you use? I would probably
cut the Festiva set by 1-1 1/2 coils or the Aspire set by 2-2 1/2
    coils.

    Thanks for the input,

When I cut the Mutt's Aspire springs to go on the Aspire struts, I did not have them cut more than 1.5 coils. Perhaps it was only one coil, I don't remember. That gave me stock ride height on my lightweight '89L.

So about 2 coils sounds right to me. At least to start. See if that lowers it enough for you. Not sure I'd risk 2.5 coils to start.

As for me, I'd use the Aspire springs.

I went for my alignment Thursday and the Pep Boys told me my strut bearings were bad and they couldn't get a fix on my toe in, etc.

They wanted $550 to fix the problem.

I told them I'd be back next week after I fixed the problem.

So I'm putting on my Aspire front suspension a little early. I hadn't planned to do this until spring. Truth is though, I need better braking with this B6!!

I'll be cutting my Aspire front springs I think, 1.5 coils. Luxstiva sits low due partly to the auto and air making the front end heavier. It feels even heavier now with the B6 for some reason. Hell, I put the battery in the back.

I think the first thing I do is to swap the struts and see how she sits. If she's too high I'll cut another half a coil or so. If fine, then I'll proceed with the knuckles, etc.

I'll let you know how it goes...
