  • The "Help find me some wheels" thread :)

Help point me in the right direction, keeping in mind I'm in Australia so options are limited compared to you lucky folk. Winnie is about to undergo the Aspire swap here in Australia but silly me took the donor wheels and 2 of the tyres are trashed, should have left them and saved some money. Anyway it's forced me up the upgrade path so maybe it was a good thing

Criteria, 14 or 15" wheels no wider than 6", preferably 5.5". 4x100 aspect. Ultimately Winnie is going to be a sleeper car, so nothing that says bling. I'd love something like the 15" Mini Cooper wheels as they look like something the car could have come with from the factory. Something that makes the car look tidy rather than modified if that's possible.

I could be contradicting my own logic with these wheels but I can't help feeling they could look good on a Festiva. From a Honda Civic Type-R (By ROTA) 15x6 size:

I'm also thinking about ringing around the Wreckers for Mini Cooper wheels. But don't have many other ideas yet, so your feedback is welcome

I've been similarly chasing a set of mags for a few months & finally scored these on ebay last week:

    They're a 14x6 114.3 PCD with 38mm offset & good Kumho 185/60's fitted.
Still need a clean & repaint but good at $100 the set.
Dual 4x100 & 4x114.3 PCD 14x6's do come up on Aus ebay occasionally, and have been selling for $120-250 the set.

With lowered springs 185/60 Khumo's fill the front guard really well but rub a little on extreme travel when cornering hard. The Rears are hard up against the Shocks, so are too just tall.

You'll find Falken 912's are the only tyre of 195/45R14's readily available here. Bob Jane has plenty of warehouse stock (100+) and will be fitting a set for me tomorrow.

    Best of luck.

95 escort GT rims are nice, 7 spokes. I don't think you had that particular style over in Oz though.

Hey mate always nice to see another aussie on these forums. Yeah $100-250 is good, cheaper than the ones I've been finding thus far. Yours are looking good, not quite the style I'm going for myself but for what you paid it's a bargain. I just forked out another $180 yesterday on rotors & pads so my play money is starting to dwindle now. I guess wheels aren't a real priority just yet as I expect my car to be off the road for a few weeks so I'll just scour the web in that time and see what pops up. Anything under $250 would be a godsend before rego. And it will certainly be nice to run a real tyre on the Festiva for the first time. The 13" tyres are rubbish and I'm running Pirelli's too. Just not wide enough or low enough profile to do anything to my liking.

Speedy Edge & CSA Efex, Evo and NOS come in dual PCD keeping your options open for when to spend money on the WB Festiva (Aspire) Brake upgrade so may be worth a look:

I was considering these but Falken 195/45-14's are RRP $178ea, so even after getting a discount I decided to spend less on wheels & more on tyres...also wanted wheels more in keeping with 1988 style which was easier with used wheels off ebay.

Here's what my 121 looks like with the new tyres. I'm very happy with the ride - like on rails.
