  • Aspire struts/ springs/ and strut bar!

Today, me and my buddy installed some aspire struts and springs that we got from the junkyard. Changed the handling dramatically, and my car doesnt bottom out anymore!!! Then we got bored, and made a strut bar. I could not believe how much the strut bar tightened everything up, its crazy. Didn't think that strut bars were really that effective but aparently so! In the morning, if I can get my camera to work, ill post some pics.

I would imagine if they are the same height then the aspire springs would be just a hair higher rate, they are afterall like 200+ lbs more.

The springs are the same diameter, and I think they are about the same length. But yeah they are slightly higher spring rate. Jacked the back of my car up about an inch.

^^^ Yup! ^^^ Just did this to mine. Handling is WAY better! No longer need the twist in spring lifts I had on the Festy struts, as it raised about an inch with the Aspire struts.

Not yet. Do you have any specs or dimensions for the bar you made? I could probably make one.

The plates that get bolted on each side was some scrap 1/4" steel cut with a hole saw at 2 1/2" inches diamter. The bar itself was 40 3/4" long (if i remember correctly I could be wrong).

Yeah I did the rear aspire swap on mine (haven't gotten around to doing the front yet) and contrary to my thread where I said it didn't make much difference, after driving it a good 200KM this weekend I stand corrected! I'm talking about the aspire struts, springs and axle.

I'll eventually throw them for an aftermarket lowered setup but the difference over a tired Festiva setup is noticeable. And if you do the axle swap you get further handling improvements plus bigger drums - the handbrake actually works properly now!
                            200,000KM milestone!
