  • camber after aspire conversion??

    hello!

just converted to the 4x100 bolt pattern. but it looks like i got a lot of positive camber angle.

    is that normal after converting?

    how to solve?

i thought of making the upper strut mount hole "longer" to be able to correct that.

    any advice?

    thx

I had the same problem after my swap. I was able to get my camber bolts from Advance auto fro about 12 bucks a pair.

Camber bolts are mainly for those who have lowered their Festivas, right? When I got the Mutt aligned after the suspension swap the shop didn't say anything about any difficulties.

I take it standard ride height shouldn't need these?

Did you use Aspire lower control arms or Festiva arms?

Aspire arms are a few mms longer & aren't appropriate. Keep Festiva arms with Festivas and Aspire arms with Aspires!

I wonder if the Mazda 121 is lower than the Festiva. That's weird.

Actually guys, the only way to get NEGATIVE camber after the Aspire swap is to use the Aspire control arms which are longer, making your track wider at the bottom creating negative camber.. If your car is at normal ride height with the Aspire swap and Festiva LCA's then you have much MORE positive camber than you should although if you look at the Festiva (stock) alignment numbers it allows for over a degree of positive camber which is probably why the alignment shop was able to put it within specs.. If your Festiva is lowered, you will probably have what I had, close to .075 POSITIVE camber and an alignment shop can dial that into around .05 but I bought the camber bolts and now I am at -.5 but I think I might switch to the Aspire sway bar and LCA's next time I do any more suspension work to get more like -1.5 or -2 degrees.. And for those of you who don't it would work correctly, try it. Jim with the Yellow B6T Festiva here in NJ has the COMPLETE Aspire swap and everything is done right. -Kyle

A while back I was doing some research regarding the camber bolts. Not sure if they are designed for this, but I thought I saw somewhere on the net where they had used 2 sets of bolts, that way you could adjust both the top and bottom mounting positions. The bolts though are considerably smaller in diameter than the stock bolt, so I am not sure if this is even feasibly safe.

Shouldn't this thread be in the Cust. Susp. forum?
