  • Aspire brake swap problems

This was sent to me via email.. I'm not sure as the only swap I've done was using a 94 mtx aspire.

My name is Rande I own a 93 festiva I just did a suspension swap from a 96 Aspire I got problems!! maybe you can shed some light and help me out. the 96 Aspire was a automatic if this makes a differance. the festiva is a stick. my problem is the left half shaft is short now. it is leaking trans fluid and i can see the wear mark on the half shaft hub because it's not all the way in the trans like it should be. I am using the stock feativa shaft should I use the shaft from the aspire even tho it's a automatic? the right shaft seems long. it's hitting the bell housing cover a little. I drove the car 20 miles or so and now it feels like it's in a suspension bind it just doesn't "feel" right. any suggestinons? I'm not a kid fyi. I used to make a living bending wrenches and this swap was supposed to be a snap but I find it anything but.. Rande

Sounds like he used the aspire control arms. They are longer and will pull the shafts out of the tranny.

The only thing to change up front is the spindle and brakes not the control arms, struts, or axles.
